Our Philosophy

Our objective is to provide both practical and results oriented marketing support to our clients. We see our role as an auxiliary marketing department giving full commitment in terms of our resources, confidentiality, expertise and time.

Marketing activities are used to attract new customers while superior customer care by staff is vital in keeping customers. We advise and implement both marketing and customer care activities.

Our Approach

Our logo makes tangible our approach to working with clients and can be summarised by our mission statement, which is: - 'providing vision and direction for profitable growth'.


Analyse Strategic Position

We analyse where our clients are positioned in the marketplace and using our creativity and imagination assess the options and advise on changes in strategic position.


Develop Marketing Plans

We agree the marketing objectives with the client and in the marketing plan explore the different marketing strategies and make recommendations on tactics and actions to achieve these objectives. We devise an Action Plan to guide clients in the agreed direction.


Implement Marketing Activities

We devise practical plans and usually work with clients to implement the marketing activities. In many cases training is required.
We are pleased to work with clients on a retainer basis or on short-term projects or indeed in a training capacity.

Monthly Retainer (minimum 6 months)

We set out with the client several objectives, which have to be achieved during the consultancy. We would usually meet on a weekly basis and in addition carry out the agreed marketing activities. In many client companies we act as their Marketing Department.

Short Term Projects

We are often invited to assist clients on a short term ba sis e.g. select and brief a design company on a design project, research packaging, advertising and promotional concepts prior to launch, brochure writing, …

In-Company and Open Training Seminars

We assess the training needs of companies and devise and deliver customised courses. In addition we are invited by training organisations and institutes to provide open courses and special customised courses for members. We provide training in the following key areas - marketing, selling and customer care.

Marc Thornton

Marc is managing director of DTA Marketing, a well-established marketing and training consultancy in Dublin. Prior to joining DTA Marketing (20 years ago) he held senior marketing positions with Superquinn, Securicor, Deloitte and AIB.

He is a member and Graduate (Grad MMII) of the Marketing Institute of Ireland (formally vice chairman) and is an elected Fellow (FIHI) and former council member of the Irish Hospitality Institute. He regularly gives seminars on marketing, selling and customer care.

Marc has assisted over 400 companies with their marketing and staff development and he addresses over 2,000 people annually at conferences and workshops.

He is a leading marketing, sales and customer care trainer in the hospitality market. He trained the team that won the All Ireland Marketing award for Customer Care ( KDD Distribution) and delivered award winning customer care programmes for Seven Oaks Hotel Carlow in 2005 / 06 / 07/ 08 /10/ 12 and recently his client O’Hanrahan Travel won 2012 ITAA Travel Agent of the Year.

Marc has written many articles for business publications (Sunday Business Post, Business Plus, Sunday Tribune etc) and has published a book on marketing and customer care called – “Winning Lifetime Customers”.
